3 Corners Summer Youth Programme 2011

During August 2011 we worked with 3 Corners Youth Centre to deliver a film workshop as part of their Summer Youth Activities Programme.

Over four sessions we worked with the group to create and produce a film trailer.  The group were interested in working within the horror genre! This made for a very exciting time spent creating storyboards and scripting each shot.  Having established the structure and content of the trailer they went on to perform and film each scene.  The final edit was shown to parents, friends and youth workers as part of their showcase event.

Islington Platform Arts Festival 2011

In July 2011 we teamed up with Islington Libraries to present ‘Strictly Shakespeare!' as part of Islington’s first Platform Festival.  The two week festival celebrated youth arts across Islington and saw the launch of Platform – an amazing new venue at the former Hornsey Road Baths and Laundry.

We performed the show for 160 students from Highbury Fields School and Mount Carmel Secondary.  The shows offered the students a chance to explore what Shakespeare’s comedies, histories and tragedies were all about.  We had a brilliant time working with Islington libraries and all the students on this project!

Clerkenwell Mysteries Easter Week 2010

Big Wheel worked with local primary schools to revive the Clerkenwell Mystery Plays during Easter Week 2010.  After several lively workshops and rehearsals, pupils from Hugh Myddelton, St. John Evangelist and Clerkenwell Parochial came together holding banners and personalised coats-of-arms in a Mystery Plays Parade around Spa Fields Park and along Exmouth Market.

Using music, props, colourful wigs and costume the children then performed in the Exmouth Market Centre  re-telling the mystery plays with a modern twist.

Spa Fields

We often work with our local park, Spa Fields. Over the last couple of years we have helped to run their Halloween events and summer festival.
